Middle Child

If you have a middle child this is a GREAT idea!

http://www.diddledots.com/2009/04/meat-in-middle_25.html

Since we found out we were pregnant with Carter we had been thinking and talking a lot about having a middle child. I read this and loved it and now when we use it on Brooklyn she says that Kennedy and Carter are the bread. And since Brooklyn only eats the middle of anything, pb in crackers, the cream in the oreos it makes us smile to know she was born to be the middle and we love her for it!

TWO Months Already!

Mr. Serious

Are we done yet mommy? I'm tired!

Love this one because of the doll next to him - do you know how many pictures I have with toys/dolls next to Carter from Brooklyn sticking them beside him. It's so cute. I could do a whole blog post with pictures like this!

Our little man is two months old now and growing like a weed! His personality has come out more and more and he is so much fun.

Carter just went for his 2 month check up and he gained 2.5 pounds in one month HOORAY! He now weighs 10lbs 9oz and is growing in length as well (does that surprise anyone :)at 23 inches long now. We knew it was a big jump as he just moved into Size 1 diapers this week.

He is smiling a TON! He loves the attention and rewards us with the best gift of a smile. And when he smiles he smiles with his WHOLE face, it's almost like a laugh but no sounds come out YET. The talking is the best part too...we can carry on a whole conversation with him although I can already see it, the poor guy can hardly get a word in with the three girls in the house. But he has proven he is a good listener too. His favorite thing right now is to be propped up on our legs and sit there and talk and talk. This has always been one of my favorite activities with all of my kids!

At 2 months Carter loves:

To be sung to and he doesn't even seem to mind my singing out of tune.

His play mat and talking to the light up musical star.

His mobile, talks to that too.

Watching his sisters do ANYTHING.

His baby poster the girls made.

To dance when we turn up the music and all dance together.

Carter is super strong. He can hold his head up with the best of them and look around forever. He loves to be on his tummy and if we put him on the carpet he can scootch forward like a worm, just faster! And just the other day he started to grab and hold onto a toy for a few seconds too...even Kennedy got excited when she saw him do that.

The past two weeks we have been blessed with more sleep! He has done some seven and eight hour stretches at night. He has been a great napper too and puts himself to sleep pretty easily. My biggest debate is whether I put him down or hold him on the times he does fall asleep in my arms, definitely a great dillema to have!

Carter has been blueberry picking, to daddy's work for lunch and had his pics professionally taken all this week (pictures coming soon). So it's been a busy and exciting week for a two month old.

The newness hasn't all worn off with the girls. They are as eager as ever to kiss, hold and love their brother. In fact after one long night a couple of weeks ago I told Brooklyn I was going to sell Carter. She looked at me with this serious face and big eyes and said, "But mommy, you can't I love him bery much!" I told her I was teasing and we wouldn't sell him, but he was sleeping with her. After that he started sleeping much better, Brooklyn must have had a talk with him :)

And here are some of all three kids on Carter's special two month birthday! And yes we sang :)

Fabulous Fourth

Fourth of July is a close runner up to Christmas in our house. It helps living in a small town where they do things up right! It is all about traditions which are so fun to share with our kids each year and celebrate as a family. We start the day with Tim putting up all the flags in the front yard...and of course he has two little helpers but I assume it will be three next year.

Our day is filled with other traditions such as the parade, having some of our closest friends over for swimming and a bbq - this was the 4th year our two families have done the whole 4th of July get together. It is so neat to look back on all the pictures and see how the years have grown our two families. The first year it was three kids, Kennedy was our only, the next year Brooklyn joined to make four, then four again last year and this year we jumped to SIX, the two new baby boys! We are blessed to have them as family friends! The one tradition that was different this year was fireworks. In our old house fireworks were legal so all the neighbors and Tim would buy a bunch and we would have our very own fireworks show! That was different this year as they aren't legal in our new neighborhood but we were able to catch a few from our front yard from the fireworks show in the center or town. The only nice thing is the kids slept soundly as there wasn't an artillery show going on in their front yard!

Here is a cute one of all the kids the morning of the 4th in their 4th of July pj's Papaw got them this year.

Patriotic from Head to Toe

A definite plus to a holiday around here is all the fun clothes for the kids!

The Parade

The girls had been counting down for days. Kennedy said last night she was going to have extra good dreams because of the day! The anticipation comes from the parade here in our little town. It is HUGE and one of the biggest parades in our big city. People start lining up their chairs early early to get good seats. There are businesses, sports groups, floats, churches, politicians, you name it and lots and lots of candy. Of course the kids love the candy but mostly we just enjoy being a part of a community that comes together to celebrate this day and all in entails...there is something about the tradition of the parade and seeing all the families there, tons of kids (most in their Old Navy flag shirts). It is definitely a tradition I see continuing when the kids are older (as long as they aren't in a phase of being too cool to sit with their parents at a parade)!

Dining Room Table

Some people use theirs to entertain, serve nice meals on, etc.

We on the other hand use ours for:

Organizing. This is what it takes to get a family of five out of the house, dressed on a special occasion, like today's 4th of July parade or church on Sunday. Whew, thank you God for dining room tables!

Has Anyone Seen

The Ironing Fairy? If you have will you please send her my way because there is a pile a mile high in the guest room looking for the fairy, thanks!

The First of Many

SWIMS for Carter! As I was looking back at pictures I could not believe I forgot one of the highlights of our Father's Day weekend. Taking Carter swimming for the first time. He LOVED it. I think he just likes water. Tim had such a fun time taking him in and the girls thought having their brother in the water was definitely special. He looked so cute in his swim trunks and hat I had to get a couple of pictures first of course.

And here are some black and white ones which are always a favorite of mine.
