Carving Time

Well this is only two weeks late :), but still too fun not to share. Our pumpkin carving night was a full family affair. I laugh every year because we go buy these pumpkins at the pumpkin patch and wait for weeks to carve them, the girls pick out their design or draw faces that they want daddy to carve, we buy the tools, Tim promises to cook the seeds EVERY YEAR (and they end up in the trash) and voila, the cleaning out of the pumpkins and carving time comes and the girls are off riding their scooters or bikes and Tim is out in the garage until late carving all of these pumpkins...Ahh memories, BUT this year would be different.

We were all out there and just for the record I carved TWO of the three pumpkins. No they weren't intricate designs like Tim did for Kennedy but they were carved and so we would all be out in the garage until late this year but it was so worth it. AND we did cook the seeds this year and all tried them, YUMMY! The girls each had to scoop out as many scoops as they were old...hey it worked to get them to do it! And Carter well Carter was just excited to be in on the action hopefully he won't care if it's messy being the boy and just dig in, just give him until next year!

And just to show you what a difference a year makes...

This was last year's pumpkin carving finale and this is where we announced to friends and family we were pregnant with baby #3...Carter was cooking in there and now he is digging in the pumpkin seeds...God is good!

SIX Months Old...Happy Half Birthday!

Carter turned 6 months old this past Sunday. Whew this past six months flew and I really don't want the next 6 months to go as fast. He is my last baby and life is busier and I don't want him to try to keep up with it, I want him to slow down. The last month Carter's world has grown and changed just like him. He's this little person now, not really a baby baby.

- Carter started with the cereal after he turned 5 months old and just started with the big yummy veggies and fruits right before he turned six months. He seems to like them about half the time, much more interesting than the cereal. I am a little (ok a lot) slower at making the food this time around so we are going slowly. I know the girls are chomping at the bit to be able to hand him a piece of cereal, some toast, a goldfish, anything to share...I know it will become a competition like who can help him the most, hey I am not complaining!

- Carter is a water boy. He started drinking out of a straw cup a few weeks ago and has gotten even better at it. He loves his sippy cup too and drinks water from anyone that will offer it to him any other time. He flaps his arms and goes crazy when he sees water.

- For a little baby who had trouble gaining weight at the beginning of life he sure has caught up. He is now over 17 pounds and is LONG. He is 28.5 inches, tall like his daddy.

- Carter is more sturdy sitting up now but not completely upright. I will leave him to help one of the girls and he will tip over, doesn't seem to care much for it. And if he does sit for awhile he will lurch forward to grab something now.

- He loves his feet but it's cute because he doesn't seem as flexible to be able to get them in his mouth yet or reach them higher. He keeps trying and trying but no go yet.

- He is getting good at the fake coughing and screeching to get the attention. Loves a whole handful of hair from any of us girls in the house. He's also gotten right on target of eating my nose or coming in for a WIDE open mouth kiss.

- Loves to see how to make the music toys play again, that is a fun milestone to see from all the kids...the whole cause and effect thing. One of his favorite games lately is us rolling the ball back and forth while he is on his tummy.

- We know now that Carter loves ANY water, not just baths, drinking water, swimming but the kid gets super excited when he knows he is taking a shower! That is why Brooklyn calls him her fish!

Happy half birthday buddy. I can't believe I am saying that! How full these six months have been! I have learned a lot about being a mommy to a boy and being a mommy to three. Carter and his little personality have definitely blessed our lives and our hearts are full of more love than ever...a lot more tired, but the love part wins over because nothing beats that!

Trick or Treat

Brooklyn telling ALL of us how the night is going to play out!

Daddy and his "little dog"

The very first house of the night

Carter was such a trooper!

See what you have to look forward to buddy

The girls with all their loot...they each kept 10 pieces and it seriously was forgotten about two days later, love that part.

The best line of the night was from Brooklyn..."Oh mom this is a woofing house." She walked up to a house with a barking dog. Love their sayings, too cute!

Only You

Brooklyn could look so stinkin cute with this get up on your way to dance...I am diggin your style!

I couldn't resist posting this one that I took today...I am so far behind on all my other pics like Halloween still, pumpkin carving and Carter's 6 mos. pictures, BUT it will get done. This one was just too quick and too cute not to post!

Say It Ain't So!

Carter is old enough to sit in his high chair and eat PUFFS...no way! I guess the whole puff thing is sentimental, that just makes them seem so grown up :)

He actually does pretty good getting them from his high chair to his mouth...maybe it helps that I put a bunch on his tray so he gets lots of chances, or he is already learning as the third if he doesn't figure it out for himself he may be waiting awhile :). Either way I love watching him grow and do new things, that part never gets old with any of the kids!

Tooth #3

Tooth #3 made it's way out of Kennedy's mouth on Halloween afternoon. It had been hanging there long enough so mommy kinda helped it out, BUT believe me it didn't need much help. Kennedy was grimmacing waiting for the pain and drama to follow and she didn't say ouch and looked at me with a look like, "oh I'm sorry mama that it didn't work, maybe next time!" But I just sat there waiting for her to stick her tongue through the new hole in her mouth and when she finally did her expression changed dramatically. And the coolest part, it didn't HURT which was what we had tried to tell her but she didn't believe us. I just held the tooth up in my hand and we did the happy tooth lost dance and jumped around and I picked her up...ahhhh to be a kid again :).

So Kennedy's tooth journal now has 3 whole pages to it. She writes in it everytime she looses a tooth (the first two came out last Septemeber 2008). She gets to write which tooth, the date, where she was, what time, who was around and she draws a picture. Something I hope to do with all the kids. This losing a tooth thing is HUGE, what a milestone. Glad the tooth fairy had cash this time instead of only her debit card...that's always hard!

A Little B & B Time

No, not bed and breakfast but better! Aunt Betsy and Uncle Butch came to cowboy world for a visit! We had a great time. The weather was incredible all but one of the days. We took some walks, the guys got to play golf (only once unfortunately) and we played outside a lot. They were able to see Kennedy play soccer which was great and Bebe was able to come see ballerina Brooklyn at dance class before they left. And Uncle Butch and Carter bonded...I think Carter just loved having another male around during the days...can't say I blame the kid! Thanks for coming out to spend some time with us...all the yummy food and m & m's, doesn't get more fun than that!

they get more cream cheese on their faces than on the bagels...
but they look so cute!

And it's by small miracle when I get my picture taken, let alone one with all three kids so you betcha it's being posted...my cute little punkins!
