Grateful

Grateful - it's that feeling of a full heart, living in the moment, aware of the simple things that are always happening around us BUT the gratefulness part comes when we stop long enough to see those things that are there - we catch them, we don't let them pass us by and we hang on to every last moment we can. Grateful

Today I am grateful for this sweet girl who is so obsessed with football that she makes me smile. She will outlast even her dad in watching the game, bite her nails when it gets close, gets nervous if the Texans aren't winning, knows the schedule and puts on her game jersey and who made up her own word lately - undefeatable - instead of undefeated and I love it. All I know is she is going to make some guy who is fortunate to hold her hand very happy with her love of sports!

Today I am grateful for this early bird - she is the first to rise and always ready to cuddle just for a minute and then she jets off to the craft table for the creation she is already drumming up. She probably dreamed it up all night long. I am thankful for her trail of stuff throughout my entire house because I always know she is around and I never have to worry about her running away because I will be able to follow her trail anywhere! She feels loved when you give her kisses and hugs and she always wants more. She will quietly slip her hand into mine whenever she is feeling unsure and that's the only thing she does quietly and I love it - both quiet and loud Brooklyn and early morning Brooklyn.

Today I am grateful to this little football, car loving, outgoing, talker and mama's boy all wrapped up in one kind of boy! He was given a compliment the other day by a close friend and it made me smile and almost tear up. This friend said to me that Carter was the most joyful and kind little boy she had ever met! WOW - joyful was the perfect way to describe this kid and his joy is contagious. This is why Tim and I always look at each other and know that he rounded out family out just perfectly. He always makes sure that everyone hears him when he talks so he starts off saying, "stop talking guys" so he has the stage (I say good for him with two talkative sisters, keep your ground Carter)! And just tonight we were "lecturing" the kids in the car about their screaming while driving even though they were having the best time and Tim and I were in serious parenting mode and Car pipes up from his carseat and says, "just relax guys, just relax." We all broke out in a fit of laughter and couldn't stop. So he said, I know I'm funny. He's got charm at 3 and he knows it - watch out girls! I am grateful he asks to be checked on a million times so I can see his little freckled cheeks when he finally crashes.

Tonight I am grateful for my family, the blessings of each day and the simple moments that are truly touched by the Holy Spirit. So in the next few weeks as things get busier and crazier I pray that we continue to see and be grateful for all that surrounds us in the simple moments!
