Color in Motion 5K

It was the day for RUNNING! The morning started out super early with these 6 ladies at my house chugging last minute coffee and putting on fun knee high socks. We were heading downtown to Reliant to participate in our first ever Color Run. This wasn't THE "Color Run" it had sold out before we could snap up those bibs, but it was Color In Motion, assuming similar and we clicked purchase before we could think twice. You would have thought we were 4 years old...we were supposed to save our color packets for the end but we must have taken some notes from our kids because we didn't listen and started throwing colors and trading before we crossed the start line. We were about to start a color run with no color, nah. All I know is there was a lot of dancing, laughing, some color angels on the ground (ya know instead of snow angels) and more laughing. It got better as we headed to a Mexican place and sat on the patio for lunch and margaritas. What a fun way to spend a Saturday morning. I don't think any of us were in a hurry to get home.

While I was running in that, my little runner girl KK was participating in our local YMCA bridgefest.

She wasn't going to be able to do it because of this commitment I had and Tim had to work that morning but a friend invited her to run with them and she jumped at the chance. She loved it and loves to run I could see it in her future. She was proud of her time and as her friend Braden and I sat on the sidelines later that afternoon cheering Kennedy on at her basketball game I asked Braden how it went. She said, "it was fun, but Miss Tracee, I really think I slowed Kennedy down." She said, I tried to tell her to keep going and I would catch up but Kennedy said, no Braden it's ok we are doing this together. It's all good. It made me smile because my running friend Shauna and I have had countless conversations about this the past few years and here my 10 year old was learning the lesson of running with a friend. I HEART my girl, I HEART running and I HEART Saturdays running with my friends! Happy Weekend and memories!!
