The Never Ending Birthday Celebrations!

I get a kick out of Carter these days because out of the blue he will turn to me and say, "Mama, I want another birthday party!" I laugh because in the new world of THREE he had more birthday celebrations than ever before....so of course he wants another. Each time we go to the store he finds a new car on the shelf, or a game, toy and says, "mama, can I  have this for my birthday?" And then the occasional, it's my birthday, I'm 3!"

I can see why he is a little confused though...as the celebrations didn't stop we captured them on camera for sure.

1st Stop - In & Out Party in AZ
Had to get in one more In & Out run while I flew in quickly to pick up the kids in AZ. It turned into a party with family, singing, yummy cupcakes and candles. You couldn't wipe the smile off of Carter's face.

Check out all that ketchup...too funny. You can never say we aren't prepared!

Look ma, no hands!

Carter's best bud in AZ - cousin Carson who is awesome with him

2nd Stop - celebration with Nonie, B & Miss Betsy

That night we had a little birthday party at Nonie's house for Carter. Cupcakes were the treat of choice this day, but these were extra special because they were made by Nonie & the girls to help celebrate. The next morning the celebration continued...Uncle B took him to donuts to wish him a happy birthday.

We flew home after that just in time to kick it into high gear for Carter's real birthday on Tuesday. Carter crashed from traveling so the girls and I stayed up a bit to decorate and get the table ready. So fun to pass the baton on to two creative little beauties. The ones who line the streamers up just so on the chair and make sure their pattern is in line. The same ones who scatter just the right confetti and if, just if by chance a pink heart made it's way into the birthday confetti bag, Brooklyn scoops it up into another bag because, "mom, this is just too girly for this race car birthday!" And these girls add just the right flair to his "chair sign" the sign that has adorned every baby seat, high chair and big chair once it's your special day here... and so thankful for Tim that night who ran out to grab the things we needed to continue the party since we had been gone. It was complete team work that night!

Happy 3rd Birthday Breakfast - Tuesday, May 8th

Donuts at the park with best buds CELEBRATION!

We dropped off both sisters at school and quickly made impromptu park and donut plans with Kyle & Mischa - thank goodness their rides were flexible and could meet! It was a win win for all...we got to keep on celebrating with some play time at the park, sprinkle donuts, chocolate milk (FAVORITE) and I got to avoid all the suitcases, laundry, cleaning and unpacking that was waiting for me at home. I think there is some rule on any birthday that all the above is completely avoidable!

We spent the rest of the day playing...he figured out he could use the girls decoration as a carwash for all his cars - so smart this three thing!

And he admired his sign all day...saying, "I three now!"

Final Stop - Birthday Dinner

Carter insisted on eating at Pei Wei. At least the kid has good taste!

He loves the chopsticks

My silly sweet girl

The ever protective big sister watching carefully as he opens her special present she picked out.

Cute story: we were in the PO a few weeks back and Carter had seen this cool mailer with cars all over it. And in true Carter fashion he learned quickly that when he wanted anything the past couple of months he would just say, "I want this for my birthday." It appeased him for the moment and we had a running (mental) list going. Well I of course had forgotten about the mailer he "wamted." But Brooklyn on the other hand did not. We were in line at the dry cleaners that Tuesday morning before dropping her off at school and she looks back and says, "hey mom, there's the post office, I should run in and buy him that cars envelope so I can wrap his present in it tonight." Brilliant Brooklyn, so I dug in my wallet and purse and found some change and stood at the door as she walked up to that wall full of mailers, picked the perfect one with cars on it, and walked tall and confidently to the counter with money in hand. She got her change and walked back to me with the biggest and brightest smile until she asked very seriously, "we have to hide it in the car somewhere mom so he doesn't see it." We found the perfect spot under our picnic blanket in the back and that moment found a perfect spot in my heart about a sweet sister who couldn't wait to do something special for her brother on his birthday!

Squinkies = FAVORITE

Look at my big boy bike!!!

Well, didn't meant o focus on the candle but I did...he loved us all singing crazily to him and we had fun celebrating our very big and special THREE year old. What a day - sniff sniff.
