Olympic Fun

I guess you could say we were slightly obsessed into the Olympics this summer! The kids would want to check the schedule first thing in the morning. Highlights were gymnastics, swimming and diving! My girls spent more time making up their own gymnastics routines than I have ever seen inspired by the Fab Five. Brooklyn even took a survey of which sport was the most popular sport in the Olympics between our friends and some family here. Gymnastics won by a mile!

So we had to have our own Olympic fun (and food) to go along with our love of this event. Opening night we celebrated with 5 ring pizza picnic style watching the opening ceremony. Followed by Olympic Ring donuts the next morning. The Olympic cupcakes didn't last long either. We had fun doing our own diving competition with both girls learning how to dive and our own popsicle eating event was and always is a highlight any summer. The girls scored their own gold when they painted some Olympic metals.

It was fun talking to the girls about the hard work, motivation and determination that these athletes have and hearing some of the stories of athletes overcoming their own obstacles and the girls seeing perseverance. But the neatest of all was hearing athlete after athlete being interviewed after a win and hearing them thank our Heavenly Father and sharing their faith.

Summer Olympics we will miss you BUT my to do list was celebrating with the closing ceremony!

So cute! Love all the olympic fun. It was a hit around here too with the same three favorites! Lex will still ask some nights if we are going to stay up and watch the olymipcs. :) Love the pizza and dessert ideas....will have to remember that for next time....if my brain will still be working! Hope you are enjoying the end of your summer. Kaylee had to start on the 8th, way too hot and too early in my book. I am bracing myself for Tuesday when Lex starts preschool....so not ready for that. Tell everyone hello!
