Sweet Sweet Seven

This past Saturday, Miss Brooklyn went from sweet six to sweet sweet seven! Seriously this girl was giddy ALL last week just waiting for the day she turned SEVEN! Her smile could NOT be contained and it was adorable watching her...

especially with her new one tooth grin

She was antsy (true Brooklyn fashion) all week, talking about what her day would look like - she wanted ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner and she wanted to play all day. She would count down the days and verify that her number of sleeps she was counting in her head were accurate and up to date. I was realizing this seven thing was a hit already in her mind. Her birthday party was on Sunday so in her mind the weekend was ALL hers and she was in heaven.

Brooklyn I adore you! I love watching you skip, jump, bounce, hop, cartwheel anywhere and everywhere. If you forgot something downstairs you pretty much do an imaginary obstacle course just getting back to pick it up. You always take the long, scenic route anywhere is what I am realizing. Most of the time I admire that, sometimes I wish you were as quick as a firefighter! You get distracted easily because your mind is on to bigger and better way more creative things than getting ready for school or bed. You can see your wheels turning and most of the time I like to sit and watch and take it all in...I can almost see your mind working away. Your projects and creations and stores have not lessened at all with the coming of seven. In fact if anything they just have gotten a little cramped with this thing called first grade...longer days and definitely lots and lots of homework. Gymnastics is your thing right now and if you aren't trying a handstand or cartwheel you are asking me to spot you in a back bend kick over. You love the challenge and accomplishing new things...I love watching your face as you see yourself improving, and getting better and stronger. You make our home bigger, brighter and louder with your joy, screams and sass. You are a very honest little girl and a kind friend that is always welcoming someone over or including others. You have the biggest heart and share what you get very freely and it makes my heart smile. It was no surprise when you opened a special gift card from Target two days before your birthday that your first words were to your brother..."Carter, I will have plenty so I want to buy you a new car at Target, k buddy?!?! You are always telling us you love us and thank us for the littlest things. My favorite thing around the house is all of your art! You are constantly writing, drawing poster, cards, notes and pictures to spruce up our walls and fridge! I smile every time I find one of your little notes on my notebook or grocery list that says, I love you mommy! You bring us lots of smiles Miss Brooklyn and I am so thankful you are you. God blessed us in many ways with your smile and I can't wait to celebrate this special thing called SEVEN with you the whole weekend. Love you sunshine, monkey, bieber, sweet girl, B!!!!!

The Friday before her big day was the day they celebrated at school!

Her sweet friend Sofia-they have known each other for a bit but this year they are at the same school and in the same class. Two social peas in a pod!

Brooklyn passed out ice cream tickets to all of her class (gone are the days of homemade treats to share :-(...
Brooklyn and sweet friend Avery loving their goodies.

True Brooklyn fashion, half splits during lunch. Carter and I took her Subway for her special school birthday

Good morning 7 year old!

A handful of pictures of Brooklyn on her past 6 birthdays! What a fun way to share the memories of our girl!

Her first REAL sketch fashion pad - she has gotten kid versions before but this one, this one was REAL. She has always said she wants to be a fashionista when she grows up and design clothes and have her own store. This girl, she could do it. She was busy sketching away before her ice cream was served for breakfast. Love her dreams!

She asked for an ipod so she could play music before she went to sleep and during quiet time while coloring/drawing. The first song she requested - Mandisa's It's a Good Morning - a WHOLE family favorite. The perfect song to get you going in the mornings. Her Kindergarten teachers played this song every morning in class and let them dance their hearts out. The blessing and joy of a private schools.

First breakfast - ice cream

2nd breakfast - chocolate chip pancakes - our favorite recipe! See the sketch pad nearby...

Next up we had a day full of surprises for the big SEVEN. We kinda just kept asking her what she wanted to do and where she wanted to go to lunch and acted very laid back. Little did she know they whole day ahead was planned and what a plan it was!
