Summer Standby

This morning brought a favorite summer standby into play...Blueberry Picking! It is on our summer to do bucket every year. And every year on the way to pick blueberries I have these BIG dreams of coming home and putting on a cute ruffled apron, sprinkling floor around the kitchen and whipping up a homemade blueberry pie, blueberry scones, blueberry cobbler and blueberry jam BUT usually we settle for blueberry muffins, blueberry pancakes and just plain old blueberries.

Two years ago our little Car man was nestled in his 0-3 mos. onesie conked out in his graco baby carrier not having a clue that his whole family was going whole hog picking fresh blueberries...

June 2009

This year was way different...he had his very own bucket and not many blueberries made it into his bucket! They hit his mouth first. I seriously think the kid consumed an entire pint by himself!

Who stole the blueberries from the blueberry bush? Who me, YES YOU!!!

If this picture doesn't show what it is truly like trying to capture a picture of all
three I don't know what does?

About midway through picking and with a full tummy Carter did what any little boy would do, he turned to the dirt and dirt pick he did. I was so not used to this with the girls :)

Another favorite activity was pouring the blueberries from one bucket into another bucket.

Nothing says a hard mornings work like a rest and some snowcones!

We had a great time this year. The weather was nice to us about 40 minutes and then it got brutal and Car has the cheeks to prove it. We came home with 4 pounds of blueberries and some fun family memories. The girls love having a daddy who is so tall, "cuz he can reach ALL the blueberries that the regular daddy's can't get!" Out of the mouth of Kennedy with Brooklyn cheering her sentiments right behind! I do have to say he kicks butt at blueberry picking...

...And back to my dream...the dream is exactly that a dream so far any my kitchen hasn't seen the flour or the aroma of scones, pies cobbler or jam BUT the blueberries sit washed on the counter thanks to my husband! That's as far as we got...but tomorrow morning we may be singing a tune to blueberry pancakes! And that dream MAY just may turn into a reality this week but in the meantime I am burning a blueberry struesel muffin tart candle...that's gotta count for something right?
