I didn't capture any of it on my camera...was too caught up in the moments. That's a good thing so I can be totally present but thinking back on it there were so many times I wish I had my camera to capture the memory and image I hold in my head. Instead this time I will rely on words for the memories, but more important the simplicity that made the memories!
So this weekend, I loved:
The incredible clear, cool, dry weather. The kind of weather that is absolutely perfect for bike rides, sand box time, jogs, walks, flip flops and playing any and everything we can under the sun! Another reminder why January can be a favorite time of year here!
Watching Miss Brooklyn totally take over the green belts and roads on her 2 wheeler. She has been riding sans training wheels since last Christmas but only for a short time. She liked riding around in circles closeby and her little legs would only go so far. Well this weekend her Mastery of riding her big 14" bike came out like a banner on a blimp screaming high in the sky...I am confident, I can ride and I can ride far and totally keep up with the rest of my family. She didn't say that but you could read it all on her face and see it clearly in her little tennis shoes running circles over her pedals. It was precious!
Lots of playtime at the park! Love watching Carter yell, watch me mama, watch me. Or teeter over to me as I am sitting on the merry go round as he is still a little unsure and he plops right down in my lap.
Catching up on reading a fun chapter book with the girls, snuggling in our musical beds, and any and every couch we could find.
Sunday morning pancake morning - featuring Chef Daddy! He seriously makes the best pancakes, perfectly golden and all I know is if business ever slows down, he can make a living off his mad pancake skills.
Catching up with my dad and trading stories about life's journey, perspective, faith and choices. My dad is great to talk to about that kind of stuff...
Football, Football and more Football - Go Texans. I know Tim's highlight of the game was being able to see them win and a date afternoon all in one but the picture below may say otherwise :)
Flip flops in January!
Cheering KK on in her basketball game...a new sport she tried this year and LOVES.
Our family totally pulling a crazy move and busting out our dance moves in our seats at our local Mexican restaurant. It was priceless, funny, and man it was seriously the highlight of highlights of my weekend. There was a good dance song that came on vs the normal mariachi like music and Brooklyn starts grooving, hands held high, head boppin. Next I turn to see Tim and Carter and even proper and embarrased Kennedy now busted some cute little dance moves out and I just sat there and stared laughing knowing that every table in the restaurant was looking and not caring because it was the funniest and cutest thing ever...anytime we can catch ourselves not caring so much about what other's think and having fun, living life is the biggest JOY and grattitude a mom can ever witness. My family teaches me something every single day! And its something I hope we can make more a part of our 2012 things to do weekly.
A family bike ride of to K's school, followed by a little basketball practice for two (Tim and KK) and some scrimaging, an elbow to the mouth courtesy of mama, and some scooter riding, playground hopping for the younger two...did I mention the weather BEAUTIFUL!
Getting back out and running again...early morning, dark and quiet with my favorite running partner - oh ya and sprinting when we spot a young high school girl dressed a little quirky with a sword, Shauna swore it was a sword. We booked it, panting and laughing for what felt like forever and then feeling silly when we finally stopped to breathe but kept checking back over our shoulders.
A good weekend = finding and searching for the little things that truly made it good!
