Twas the Last Week of School...

Before Christmas break...all the kids had activities and mommy's head was spinning :).

Not really, but only because Nonie was here! Nonie was able to come a week earlier this year and because of that she was able to be here for any and every school activity, event and party that came the last week of school before break. It was awesome in more ways than one. Carter didn't know what hit him because the kid got to sleep and let me tell you he slept and slept and slept some more. He didn't have to be woken from one nap, morning drop off, pickup, you name it. It was awesome because she got to be a part of the fun and magical activities that precede Christmas and all of the excitement that comes with participating in everything in between! And let me tell you she is by far the best seat saver of all...Kennedy had a singing program this year and had a special speaking part and it started at 6:30...what time did Nonie insist on being dropped off at the school? 5:00pm! The custodians almost didn't let her in but she finagled her way in the doors and I think even offered to put up a chair or two in exchange for the early admission. I kept telling her she was probably just ready for some peace and quiet to read her book...she smiled and said no honey I am here so you bet I am going to be front and center for my granddaughter...either way it was a win win for everyone and we got to walk in right before it started!

First up...she literally came from the airport to Kennedy's reindeer run at school. This couldn't have been better timing since my little dancer is more of a dancer than a runner (B) and was much happier sitting on Nonie's lap on the sidelines. I on the otherhand tried to keep up with my runner girl and keep track of Carter who only ate it tripped 3 times.

We took a quick break (I know already) from school stuff and my mom joined the rest of the gang to come out and cheer me on for my 2nd half marathon. This year was better...we appreciated it more, and ran way better, less injured, and beat our time from last year by more than 6 minutes. The best part though was as I came around the corner this year I see my cute little family and they all have signs they made saying "We Love You Mom, Go Mommy, Way to Go Mommy and my mom is standing there waving her sign crazily and screaming like we were back in cheer competition days and she jumps out on the path and gives me the biggest high-five yelling Go Honey. It seriously made me smile, laugh and tear up all at the same time. It totally reminded me of how supportive and encouraging my parents were all through growing up and how many dance recitals and cheer performances they came and watched from dawn to dusk AND how they were my biggest cheerleaders. I hope and pray that Tim and I can be those same kind of cheerleaders to our kids now and in the future. It made my run extra special to have her there!

My faithful and therapeutic running partner in crime, Shauna. Our families thought it would be so funny to take a picture in front of the ambulance! We have been running together since our middle daughters were babies - so for almost 5 years now. Such a great experience to run with a close friend!

My supportive hubby who knows Sunday mornings are my running mornings!

typical family picture right now :)

Car is the first to meet me at the door on my early morning weekend runs and he always says, "you go runnin mama?" and then he asks for my gatorade...it was no different today!

Next up...B's Christmas Singing Program on Tuesday night. We got there early, armed with coloring books and as you see below thanful for the Flip Camera (tip given by Aunt Shawna and a fabulous one at that)! Brooklyn smiled, waved and stuck her tongue out at daddy (but he did it first) totally their relationship. She sung right along, knew every word and hand motion and her favorite song was One Small Child.

walking hand in hand with her preschool friend, Avery

one of my most recent favorites of KK!

Next up was Brooklyn's School Christmas Party...I was one of the party moms this time so we were all able to go to the party, Carter too!

The same night was K's 3rd grade Sing Along Program. Ya know the one where we had the prime seats in the house! Our girl did great with her lines and I loved watching her knowing these are the special times with our girls, singing programs, school activities and all things surrounding the blessings of Christmas!

Bright and early the next morning we were back at K's school for their school wide sing-along. It's still cute to watch and makes you smile even on year 4! The highlight for ALL is when they sing The 12 Days of Christmas. Each grade is divided in the cafeteria, one side girls, the other boys and then each grade is assigned a Day of Christmas. It is a competition of singing, the dance moves that go with the day and LOUDNESS. It definitely puts you into the Christmas spirit and the 5th graders are by far the most competitive and have the most fun with it.

After just enough time to swig down a cup of black coffee we were back at the school to party with K's class for her Christmas Party.

Lots of black coffee was consumed that week but as any mom with kids can attest as crazy as the last week feels it is fun but even more fun to watch your kids enjoy it all! Bring on the break and the PJ's...
