I snapped this picture the other day after a major mishap...
...a mishap by mommy. We were out picking weeds yesterday afternoon after the rain FINALLY stopped. The girls helped me for awhile and then quickly traded in their weed cups for bike helmets and wind against their faces. Kennedy was riding towards the driveway as I quickly made my way to another weedy area and began grabbing and pulling on a mission. At that moment she yells, "Mom STOP!"...it was too late, I pulled "the weed" I couldn't figure out what she was talking about and then she briefly looked back behind her as his sister was at the other end of our street and says mom, that was Brooklyn's "flower" that she just planted. As I stopped and looked at the weed I had just pulled out I saw that Brooklyn had pulled a piece off of a bush and re-planted it as her own in hopes it would grow (that is my girl and that is totally her - nothing is impossible, she doesn't over think things she just does and I LOVE THAT about her, most of the time)! Kennedy looks back again knowing more time had passed and Brooklyn may be getting closer... she was right as we both saw Brooklyn's pony tail swishing back and forth and her face determined to go faster and faster to get to Kennedy. So, K quickly looks at me and says, "Quick mom re-plant it" and as she finished her rushed sentence, she turns her bike around and says, hey B lets race back down the street, you can have a head start. I stood there with my hands dirty and my heart big as I was left watching their backs as they rode down the street just having seen a sweet and protective big sister, cover and watch out for her little sister! As I quickly got back to work re-planting the "flower" I smiled knowing and praying that there would be more moments like this for both of them. And depending on the situation that they would easily switch roles...one being the protector and helper and the other following.
Luckiest mommy in the WHOLE wide world! Thanks for blessing me girls!
