I snap so many pictures each week, more on some days and now with great phone cameras the amount doubles of crazy amounts of random every day life - thankfully. Here are a few from just this week of our Every Day Days...

So proud of Brooklyn - tying her own shoes now! She just picked it up by watching. That's the kind of learner she is and I have to say so proud and jealous. She watches, processes and DOES. We kept saying oh this weekend B, we will sit down and teach you how to tie your shoes. Needless to say it didn't happen and didn't happen so the girl just decides last week after she got a new pair of shoes (her foot has grown a whole size since August) that it was time to show us up. |

He is obsessed with wearing his shades lately |
 |
Hand me down V-Reader in pink of course that he must wear on his back |
 |
Asks "mama, can I please have the keys," the minute he jumps out of the car - because he's got stuff to do |
 |
Typical after school snack - apples and PB |
 |
picture credit - Carter. Most of the kids yank my phone and snap pictures throughout the day. Always fun to go back through and see the ones they have captured. |

He would spend an hour in the Hallmark Store looking at the snow villages and accessories. He asked for one for his birthday just the other day. Makes a mad dash and doesn't want to leave. |
 |
He walks around with his Catch the Match Game and asks Kennedy to play the minute she walks in the door or right before bed. His all time favorite right now. He happened to catch K on this day right before soccer practice. |

Will read and sound out anything she can get her hands on lately - Big Smiles |

Beautiful weather = lots of outside play time and bike rides. This bike ride started off with promise but as we got half way to the farthest park my pedals kept going but no gear was catching. I tried with all my might to fix it thinking it was the chain but no suck luck. It broke so we had a nice long walk home with my bike and came up with a new sport...it's called Jiking - jogging with your bike. Look in your community for upcoming events.
I wish I had a video camera to record how each one of my kids handles situations like these. They are all very different and it's interesting to step out of the moment and think of their personalities and how they respond to this stuff.
1. Is ticked off, the world is ending, complaining, complaining, complaining (and it's not her bike) - worried
2. Asks if I am ok and then says as we start walking the bike. At least it's a beautiful day and nice weather
3. Skips along and just wants me to slow down since he lost his trailer seat and now has to walk.
I write this down because this is the real daily stuff - and I want my kids to know this stuff too as they grow, look back at their childhood and then one day have their own kids, hence their own situations. I do try to do a little teachable moment (where I am sure pretty soon the eyes will start rolling at the yet another teachable moment) and then when I realize that isn't working I tell her that this isn't easy but always could be worse and if she isn't helping the situation and complaining isn't helping to zip it and we proceed. I leave it at that and ignore future under breath mutters and all is right with the world and forgotten and soon everyone is laughing and playing at the little "baby" park we stopped at for a break.
Real life is happening always - no matter what the blogs show! |
