First up - more Houston Rodeo and Livestock pictures:
The girls and I got a kick out of the name of this cow...classic! |
Trying to keep the kids busy in the boot store while Tim looked around. Carter made friends with everyone and only knocked over a few pairs of boots. We are smooth like that! |
A boy, his peanuts and the Rodeo - life as a Texan |
He wore his hat from start to finish! |
Next up - Brooklyn's Rodeo Performance at school. They had been working hard on their singing program - yee haw. The Kindergarteners had a special part with instruments which was adorable. I have seen this program 5 times now and LOVE it every time. My favorite is watching the kids square dance. A classic I remember still from the awkward days of elementary school. They had a Rodeo Lunch after too where they were able to show off their Rodeo Art they had been working on as well.
Brooklyn and her sweet friend Avery |
WOW Brooklyn - this art is going right in a frame and being displayed in our Studdert Art Gallery! |
On a separate day back at the end of February the kids had a Rodeo dress day to kick off the start of Rodeo season. These were just some cute pictures I snapped of my girl before school. Funny thing is she will wear her boots every.single.day! They come home filled with sand, dumped out and put in the basket waiting to be boot scooted into the next day.
On this same day I was blessed enough to have a friend watch Carter so I could head downtown and had a Friday lunch date with my hubby. I felt so grown up, dressing up, driving downtown in the middle of the workday with no kiddos and going to a nice restaurant...headed home and there were so much traffic - we were at a stand still. As we crept slowly forward I finally discovered what was keeping up - The Trail Ride that kicks off the Houston Rodeo. Telling you people it's a full circus and pony show around here.
Because of the traffic I was late to pick up Carter who fell asleep at Shauna's house so she told me to just get him after I picked up girls. So I grabbed Brooklyn early and we went on a fro-yo date just the two of us waiting until it was time to grab K. Love these spontaneous single dates with the kids. We both end up smiling ear to ear the entire time.
And Tim couldn't make it to Brooklyn's Rodeo performance at school because of a court meeting but met us before school and had a Rodeo Coffee breakfast date.
It was definitely a fun way to kick off the day!
