KK's Talent Show

The girl has been singing since she was a baby. I remember our bedtime routine from the time she could babble at a few months old. I would stand next to her crib and sway her back and forth humming as she watched her fish aquarium. She would hum back to me anytime I stopped, almost like taking turns. Singing (and even my off key singing) in the car was the only thing that stopped the crying while driving, it calmed her instantly (just ask Nonie). Then the older she got she asked for songs all the time. We would sing in the car, sing in the morning, sing when it was raining and sing LOUD. She belted songs out at church and would lay in her crib and eventually her big girl bed and wake up and start singing until she was ready to start the day. While most little girls watched their first Disney movie, Kennedy was watching Mary Poppins and glued to it because of the singing. I love her voice and always have. Now that she is 8 and oh so grown up, the mirror, shower and "fireplace stage" are the go to's for singing and home performances.

So after her Drama Camp this summer and her performance it was no surprise when she started talking about the talent show as soon as school started. She said she was going to do it and sing the song Maybe from Annie. She decided to do it with a friend at the last minute. So last night as the last performance, my singing sunshine got up there and belted out Maybe, mic and all. I was so proud of her courage and smile. I never got up on stage for a school event and sang. My heart beat big and I got kinda choked up just by watching her...realizing both how proud I was because of so many things but also just blown away YET again at HOW big she is and how fast time goes.

KK & Madison were so excited (& a little nervous they said)!

The best looking audience in town!

A couple of K's kindergarten teachers were in the audience watching.

She was so proud to wear her medal...even wore it to school the next day!
