The Loot & Parties

I can still remember it...rushing home from school so excited that I had a WHOLE mailbox full of Valentine's cards from my class. There was something about looking at each one, reading the card and who knows I guess even back in the third grade I was mushy and liked notes. As we were driving home one day from school last week and the girls were talking excitedly about the cards and candy I happened to mention how we used to do it back in "the old days." Can't believe we are talking about my old days but anyways. I told them back in the day we only got cards there wasn't any of this candy, fun dip, pixie stick stuff just PLAIN old cards and that I loved it and still got excited. "Mommy, that is so sad, Brooklyn said." Then for the next few minutes they could not possibly understand why it wasn't sad for me because I didn't know any different. Could.not.get.it because all they know is this way. Funny times!

What I love about the loot though is they bring it home, spread it all in every place they can find and look at it, organize it, trade it and look at it again. Soon, its forgotten about and shoved aside, most of the candy not touched until I find it in the back of the pantry and throw it away or send it with Tim to work. But it's fun watching them sort it all out and get excited, that's something that hasn't changed from the "olden days"!

Both girls had school parties...love the stacking the convo hearts game, way better than eating them! Nothing like sugaring them up before sending them home!

Brooklyn and her friend Addi

Very serious cookie decorator!

At Kennedy's party the first thing the girl did when she opened her prized Valentine box was grab a lollipop and give it to him. Yes, so sweet like she normally is but on a deeper level the girl is just SMART. Smart because she has learned and knows if she gives him a lollipop he will leave her alone in peace for her to go through the rest of her loot!

And all he knows is his big sis gave him a "pop" ad he calls it!

And what he does with "pops" is even cuter...actually it's what he does with everything these days, he sticks it on his head. Because one of his favorite songs is Laurie Berkner's Pig on Her Head and he puts anything on his head just so we will start singing the song to him...but singing it with whatever item he has on his head!

My girl won 2nd place in the coloring contest for Valentine's Day!

Two more pictures of Valentine's Day and then it's done...I can finally put the last of the decor in the tub, lug it upstairs and throw it in the attic, but until then a cute picture of my very own "loot" and my party girls! Love them all!
